22 Sea Born – Abomination Ive got this 22 Sea Born FX 22 I like to call the Abomination. The boat is a 2018 model year, the engine is a 2012, and the trailer is a 2015. Besides the mismatched years on the components, its also a little bit rough looking. I bought it out of an insurance auction and have been using it with my family for about a year. Although we love it and it is a great boat, the fact is we are now heading into water sports for the kiddos and a wakeboard boat is in our plans for the summer. Boat: 2018 Sea Born FX22 with T-Top, Minn Kota trolling motor, Humminbird Helix 7 fish finder, live bait well, flip up seats at stern, massive amounts of storage. Scuffs and scratches throughout like a hungry bear was let loose inside but in reality its not as bad as I describe it. I can provide detailed photos and video upon request. Engine: 2012 Yamaha 150 with now about 49 verified hours (will be going up as we do use the boat). When I first bought the boat, I wanted to ensure it ran flawlessly as I take my family out on it. The receipts for the engine work will make you spit up your your coffee a little ($6,200). It was all done by a Yamaha dealership with a master technician. In addition, I had them add a Yamaha 6YC Information Display because I simply hate and dont trust gauges. The lower has a 3 chip missing that does not affect performance. This boat picks up and scoots! I have had it up to 45MPH driving conservatively with the family but it may have more in it. Trailer: 2015 EZ Loader all aluminum tandem axle trailer with spare tire, tongue jack, and pole guides. Tows perfect. Unfortunately, the auctions have zero information on the history so all we can do is come up with a theory. I figured the boat may have been knocked around in a storm and most likely severely damaged the original engine. I bet it was replaced with this 2012 model year engine because it had very low hours. In most cases, they do not come with a trailer at the auction, however, someone put this boat on this 2015 trailer. At this point, only cosmetics are needed. If we went with a super high estimate of $5,000 to clean her up, you could actually get it all done for less than $3,000 or free if youre good with gelcoat. Clean Title, Stored indoors.
