Vintage camperSuper RareBrand Stopover Camper Information : This is a very rare vintage camper, The Brand name is a “StopOver”. It is believed to have been located in Pennsylvania since new, with the year to be from 1968 to 1971. I have only found a small bit of information and picture online about this brand. That information and picture was saying that this particular one is to be a 1968 model, but nothing more as they were also hunting information regarding the StopOver. I have been in touch with the RV MH (Motorhome) Hall of Fame Museum of campers from Elkhart, Indiana and they have yet to find out any real information for me due to its rareness. Will keep you posted if they find any news for me. If someone knows something more, I would love to hear from you. I do not have a title to this camper. It is believed to have been registered in Pennsylvania around 1971 or so. Not sure of correct vin #4878, but that is on the registration paper. Frame is stamped with what looks like 48718. I have spoken to the RV dealer in our area that may have sold it new or almost new somewhere around 1970 to 1971 but there is nothing documented since no records were kept from that long ago. So my sources have not proven any exact information yet. Remember folks, this is probably the only one of these campers you will ever see or hear of. It is super rare. You could have the only one of this brand or model that you will ever see. I am pretty sure of that. This is a chance to own a “few of its kind” and rare piece of history. Camper size and towing information : This is a very small camper that has a weight of around 750 lbs to 950 lbs. The dimensions of the camper shell are 9 feet 5 inches long and 6 feet 5 inches wide. The total length from rear bumper to front of tongue is 12 feet 4 inches long. Nice inside ceiling height of 71 inches high. Camper hitch has a 2 inch ball size with safety chains for towing. This is a single axle with leaf spring design. 2 new tires and wheels in the past year. The original factory rims will come with camper. You can still use the one for a spare if needed. If you desire the factory wheels to be used you will need to replace with new tires. I have not used the rear camper signal lights,they will possibly need new bulbs or wire repaired. I use led remote lights on rear bumper which will go along with camper when sold. Winning bidder should have no problems picking up at my location and having safe and easy ride back to your location. About Camper : This camper was used as an occasional bunk or guest quarters and storage as needed over the past decades. It was nestled in a beautiful, hunting/fishing style location on the wooded back yard of a camp in central Pa. when I purchased it. Camper layout and condition : This camper is just as it is seen in the pictures which were all taken in the past 2 weeks. What you see is what you are getting. This StopOver is equipped with a gas wall mounted light, gas stove, gas furnace, kitchen counter sink with faucet. I have not used or tested any of these items. The bathroom/closet has a portable toilet and a half door on both top and bottom. The living space and eating area have been set up with folding table and chairs (which are not included). You can use the same idea or build your own fold down bed and table. There is a 110 plug mounted outside with electric wiring running inside camper. It looks to be in bathroom going to living room ceiling. You could possibly use it for a ceiling light or roof air conditioner, which can be placed in the 14″by 14″ roof vent. That would be a great and easy feature to add, no cutting or modifications needed. The camper has had some water damage over its past 50 years. There is some de lamination interior paneling, ceiling and trim moldings with damage from prior leaks. Not aware of any recent leaks or issues known. The interior could have a few minor patches and a coat of paint on inside walls in which so many folks do to these and it would just look great or just keep it the way it is still is just fine and usable as is. This camper has been roof sealed and caulked at places over the years. There are no current leaks that I am aware of. It has a solid floor, good roof, good structure, and a good frame. The outside aluminum panels are in decent condition with some dents, scratches and imperfections. All windows work and crank out to open. There is one cracked glass in a window pane. The entrance door is complete with solid frame, but the outer panel is poor condition. It should be replaced with an outer skin or patched. The door knob does have a key, but the lock is not working. A hasp was added as an outside lock. Remember this camper is very simple and usable as it is. You can come pick it up and go on vacation the same day. You will only need to bring bedding, sleeping bags or air mattress. Your adventure can start right here in central Pa. close by to the historic Gettysburg Battle Field, Hershey Chocolate Factory and Park, Lancaster County Amish country. The Pa Elk herd or the Little Grand Canyon all here in Pennsylvania.
